Mengucapkan selamat tinggal-Last Memoir

Bagaimana kau mengucapkan selamat tinggal?

Pada tahun yg lalu,
Tempat yg ditinggalkan,
Seorang teman yg dirindui,
Cinta yg sudah tidak lg menemani,

Bagaimana kau mengucapkan selamat tinggal?

Jadi,
Bagaimana kau ingin mengucapkan selamat tinggal?

Selitkan jua doa-doa menyejuk ruang salju hatimu,

Bukankah,
Demi Masa manusia itu sentiasa dalam kerugian,
Kecuali yang beringat dan beramal soleh?

Salam dan selawat ke atasmu,
Kekasih Ilahi

Selamat Tinggal Waktu!

nukilan: Hanum Maisarah,11.59malam,29/12/2008

Sudah lama saya tidak berpuisi.Maklum kesibukan mengurus yg kurang efektif menjadi rembatan. Yup,saya sudah mengucapkan selamat tinggal. Anda bila lagi?

Mungkin terkejut kerana sy mengajak anda mengucapkan selamat tinggal pula. Suka hati la bila anda nak ucapkan selamat tinggalkan? Suka hati jugakla macamana nak ucapkan pun.

Amalkan 'think win/win' dan 'seek first to understand then to be understood' bila berkomunikasi. (dari 7 habits of highly effective people,Stephen R. Covey).

A picture worth a thousands words!!

MIri-7 tahun utk Mama

Untuk yang terpenting

Salam...wah maaf kalau saya bnyk salah eja dlm entry saya sebelum ini. Ada beberapa perkara yg penting muncul setelah result exam keluar dan sy perlu mengejar masa sekali lagi.

Semester baru, tahun baru dan subjek baru. Semuanya penting dan perlukan persediaan rapi. Saya bersyukur exam result dlm kategori ok cuma perlukan upgrading utk lebih cemerlang! Yeah!! Berusaha!!

Walaupun mengalami turbulance,Alhamdulillah we all safe and sound. Tiba di Miri Airport, Along dah pun tunggu kami.

Perjalanan ke rumah Along agak jauh, memakan masa hampir 40 minit. Kawasan perumahannya terletak dekat Curtin University, dipanggil Senadin.

Bila tinggal bujang maka barang dapur pun takde. So kena lah shoppingkan?

It's so magnificient that one of the biggest manor I saw is at Luak Bay own by Shin Yang Corporation owner.(Ala2 istana tepi pantai gitu.)

Please don't get me wrong.
But then bagi saya besar atau tidak rumah itu it's not important, but how you manage the space.
My favourite is kawasan perumahan semi-D atau teres. The design is so clean cut and space enhancer. Practical. My favourite word.Even library di Miri membuatkan saya jatuh cinta. Spacious and welcoming.

Perjalanan malam di Miri is very not like KL. That's why my brother love it there I guess. You finish work at 4 pm,by 4.30 you already at home. Traffic jam is seriously time killer.

Berjalan-jalan
Facts:
Muzium Petroleum Miri,Taman Buaya dan Haiwan liar Miri,Pasar Miri,Luak Bay,Restoran Muara,Restoran Madli, Miri Handicraft Center
Fun:
Sate kepak dan (err...) Ayam, Jalan-jalan tepi pantai, makan nasi Lalapan(sedap sangat but not Sarawak dish),various version of mee kolok, bagi makan pada binatang kat Taman Haiwan, cuddling ular (which I sangat takut sbb scale dia sangat sejuk tau... gelinye...). Mama and the rest of cik Kiah memborong ikan terubuk masin dan belacan miri.(belacan bintulu is more superior tp kena cari di bintulu la pula...),Miri's handicraft is not as varies as Kuching but I got a good deal.

Pictures time!!

Memoir Kuching,Sarawak-Part 2

PAGI!!!!(meow....??)

cute tak????(cepat ckp cute sekarang,tiada kompromi!!grr...meow!)

Meh2 sambung balik jalan2 nye cerita. Hehe... Ok2,kita dah pergi Petra Jaya, Waterfront, Shopping2,makan2 and apa lagi ye? Oh ye, pengisian ilmu la plak. (hehe, saja je serius.) Pergi Muzium la teman2. Cuma sy tak dpt pergi muzium kucing(meow...meow..)di Kuching Sarawak. Uuu... nak pergi. The next day:
13.12.2008
2nd day
Facts:
Art and local craft exhibition on Saturday and Sunday at waterfront. Breakfast Laksa Sarawak, umai and midin(tau tak ape benda ni?? ke korang pakai bace je?)Lunch at uncle's house,Muzium Sarawak, rumah panjang replica, tempat pasu or tembikar(i guess, tapi menggunakan tembikar la... my mum loves this,tp we all x boleh beli bnyk...berat nanti...),then off to Miri for 5 days...
Fun:

Taste Laksa Sarawak dgn mama, akhirnya jumpa juga final souveneir (arca kucing yg comel!!!!), Rasa umai made by uncle himself and midin cooked by auntie Nona herself,(finally got the taste of real Sarawakian's dish) Muzium Kuching's le tour footage, buying me a nice Sarawak's pencil holder(it's made of tembikar la....),and last but not least, the arriving of Kak Lapis Sarawak order.(We got extra than our order. Thank you auntie Anisah and the rest of our memorable host!! You guys rock!!)

Pagi!!

Blur jugak fikir, ingat nak suruh sahur tadi...(ngantuknye....)

It is quite early than usual. Jam 8 pagi di sana mcm pukul 9/10 terangnya. Malam pun mcm very early for us. 7 o'clock already very dark. And sini takde mamak2 or coffee shop yg buka lewat malam. Di west Malaysia especially kwsn area urban Selangor, mkn lewat malam is part of lifestyle.

pic:gelap ni... tp x kira nak bergambar jugak!!

well, sini pukul 11 dah senyap...er..shh..pg tidur ye dik..(hehe..)

Ok,let's continue. After breakfast we all tempah taxi then headed to waterfront. (Told ya the mak cik kiah's clan will want to do more shopping.^_^ ; ah haha...)

Sy masih tercari-cari apa brg yg sesuai utk dibawa pulang sbg kenang-kenangan. Dari jauh esplanade waterfront,sy ternampak white tent(cewah!! mcm ada wedding la plak...)

Sebenarnye pd setiap hari Sabtu dan Ahad, akan diadakan local craft and art exhibition. Kat sinilah sy jumpa brg yg dicari2. I am very satisfied with the shopping this time. It truly resembles Kuching in it's unique way. Comelkan? (sy betul2 happy ni,syukur Alhamdulillah)

pic:I've got the whole family... The six small cats resembles my family of 6

Selain gelang2,rantai2,brg2 manik, alas meja corak pua kumbu, kebanyakannya brg2 kayu berukir dan bercorak tradisional org asli Sarawak which is very pretty and sesuai dgn cita rasa Asean. (Sy sgt suka hiasan dalaman. Always love to decorate and sometimes you don't even need to pay extra bucks or expensive stuff. What you need is the right thing for the right space.)

Always think before you buy.

Packing up,picking up and lunch...

pic:Senyum !! Sedap tu ikan terubuk bakar.. Auntie Nona and Mek Dah pose mcm dlm rancangan masak2 kat TV.Cewah!!

(Adi said ikan terubuk kat shah alam kecik2 je... betul ke? hmm......)

12 o'clock Uncle Safawi and Adi picked us up. Talk about shopping,we almost forget our own time. We headed to uncle's house and were served lunch.

Ha,nak tau apa itu midin. Ni le die. Mcm pucuk paku.... Tapi softer and boleh je goreng mcm pucuk paku.

Ni pulak umai. Umai is a fresh fish usually cooked using lime or lemon.Special made by our host uncle Safawi. Nak resepi? er... x tau... ( My bro selalu buat if dia bertugas di atas pelantar minyak kecil. Boleh belajar,hehe...)

Muzium Sarawak.

Smile!!

After the Zuhur prayer we headed to Sarawak Museum. Ini sedikit rakaman. (thanx to my sony E hp.Love you sayang!!)

Kami tak dpt ke rumah panjang or they called the Cultural Village so I got the pics of the replicas. It is a nice replica of the type of rumah panjang and which kaum it for. Then we went inside the replica of rumah panjang. It gave me the basic picture of what's the inside of rumah panjang supposed to look like. Yup there's a skull hanging there in the pics below. Well, also I was told that the Bilik Bujang Berani(is what they called the Hero) is the ones with the most skulls.... Er?... eheh... xpelah....x nak masuk.

Souveneirs...

Cantik kan? Beg sy kecil je tau...

Then there's a whole ride to Kuching's craft. Mcm2 my mum,Mak edah and Mak Teh wanted but well...it would mean the whole plane for us!

pic:love it!

Tikar Sarawak mmg cantik due to of it's unique anyaman and corak. I admit bringing it back would be an adventure.

If anyone berminat they provide delivery service. Senang kan shopping zaman sekarang?(I ordered books from mph through online,it's simple and less hassle. Technology nowadays...)

The twist before Miri

It's funny that the saying is true, when things are at it's best,it is better to let go of it. I love the simplicity of life during holidays. But you can never had it too much. You'll become like Lotus Eater from legendary Greek.

Too much of good things it will destroy you. And the balance of life, the concept of Yin and Yang, the reality and most of all, like David Ball quote in his novel,The Sword and The Scimitar 'Allah always works in the most mysterious ways' had led our memorable journey to an end.

Every start has and end,so as my journey. We love to say our most gratitude to the people in Sarawak. Our kind host,Uncle Safawi and his whole family,Auntie Comi and Auntie Anisah's for the cakes and dinner, the long night ride and the funny things of how the unexpected twist of fate that led to new friendship.

There's this saying or rather a sunnah,

'If you really wanted to know your friends well, the best way is to travel with them'

I believe in my most optimum 2 days 1 night at Kuching,i have learnt that these words are very true indeed.

Forgive me my dear friends at the blogs and whoever had read my rather small inadequate interpretation of life on this blog,

I am trying my best to tell the 2 days journey at it's appropriate and accurate facts and observations. Forgive me if it's not at it's best or rather simple. I'm a small traveller,a beginner unlike Ibn Battuta.

There's so much I want to learn and do before I reach my destination. Isn't world is just a journey?

For the memorable Kuching,
Love,
Sarah.

Memoir Kuching,Sarawak-Part 1

Intializing memoir

(Babe, cepat off phone, dah nak fly ni...)

Well, saya tahu sepatutnya saya update blog once a week. And blog raya korban saya diupdate exactly after journey.

(at waterfront..lovely night)

Sebelum itu, saya ingin mengambil kesempatan untuk mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Uncle Safawi dan auntie Nona sekeluarga(Adi dan Ira),Auntie Anisah and Family and Auntie Comi for making our journey in Kuching as memorable as possible. Thank you so much, for the words of thanks sometimes seem so underestimate for your warm welcome and gracious kind.

Day 1
12.12.2008

Facts:

Samudra Hotel,Waterfront Kuching,Dinner at auntie Anisah's house,kek lapis sarawak,kampung Gersik,Petrajaya.

Fun:

Shopping at waterfront bazaar, long walk at waterfront.learn the basic Kek Lapis Sarawak 101, Mee Kolok for beginners, Captain Safawi's trip to Petrajaya and Babe's 1st flight!! hehe..(My little sister's manja name, before this it's baby...)

Packing bag memang payah.Sbbnya saya jenis malas nak bawak brg banyak2 during travel. Backpacking is my favourite way.Senang and convenient. Saya terpaksa menggunakan beg baju besar yang beroda memandangkan mama and the geng( the called themselves as Cik Kiah's clan/rombongan Cik Kiah) will of course shop and tremendously increase amount of travelling bags from thin air.

Flight is at 8.20 a.m. which is always the favourable time for me to travel.Early birds got the fattest worm.(ye la tu...sbnrnye lagi murah air fare...Go Air Asia!! Now everyone can fly! ^^)

Then off to Samudra Hotel after we got there. Thank you to auntie Anisah and Auntie Comi for helping us to get accomodation in Kuching. After a brief lunch with auntie Anisah,Auntie Comi,Auntie Nona and Ira(we crammed in one room,I called it sharing with care. Love it),then we headed to Waterfront Kuching.

Waterfront Kuching

It is a local place for shopping and sightseeing. I love the atmosphere there. Calm, simple and leisure walks along the Sarawak River. It is like having a simple version of Bintang KL walk plus clean environment and Sarawak River beneath you. Pure innocent.

Left to right:

The new Masjid Kuching on construction Then old Masjid Kuching along the streets shops.

Ohyeah, historic buildings are influence by British Colonial Design. Examples are: Chinese History Museum, the Sarawak Steamship Building, an open-air theatre and the Square Tower. There are addition of course, the moderns stuff but as you know changes are good if it include additing the public facilities, public toilet, tea terrace and historic sculptures.

The view? Breathtaking. I could sit quitely there or enjoying a long quiet walk. Sometimes that's what a person on vacation need,a quiet time to hear own voice. It helps to get sanity from all the hurdles in life . You could check out this views of course: Astana, Fort Margherita and the Malay kampungs which line the north bank of the river.

Night time is actually the best time to experience Kuching. See the picture, you know what I mean.

Well, saya x mahu type panjang, thousands of description that come from typing waterfront Kuching in Google. But up there it is 100 percent pure opinion of backpacker craze fan .

Dinner and Uncle Safawi's treat to Petra Jaya

Mee Kolok(as I see it):
Like a mee maggie, with a simple soup/chicken broth that sometimes eaten with wantan or ayam masak kicap/merah. The taste is simply nice. My bro love it though. I like it for dinner coz it is simple to make and taste nice too.(senang nak masak,x yah banyak2 keje..)
Dinner is at auntie Anisah's house. She's a kelantanese entepreneur married to a Sarawakian and since that has been doing business of Kek Lapis Sarawak.

Here some pictures of simply sedap Sarawak Layered Cakes:

Then post dinner Petra Jaya ride with uncle Safawi. He introduce us Petra Jaya during a long night ride. I love the library in Kuching. It's the state of the art architecture.(Miri's Library is also very huge and a beautiful building)Wondered why Shah Alam's library is not as welcome like Kuching's or Miri's? Shah Alam supposed to be a city of knowledge rite?

We also went to Kampung Gersik which is actually opposite the Waterfront river bank. An old Malay Village that stood still as time pass by. The Kuching North City Hall(Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara) is situated here. Kinda like Putrajaya. I couldn't get many pics but google help out.
